The Manhattan rivalry week is the biggest week of the football season and one of the biggest weeks of the school year. The Manhattan Indians won the game 42-12 on October 6th, 2017 and keeps the Silver Trophy for the second consecutive year

The game started off on a high note with both teams scoring on their opening drives. The Blue Jays scored on a 92-yard drive that would be their longest drive of the season. At the end of the first quarter, the Blue Jays were down by one to Manhattan with a score of 7-6.

The second quarter was a battle as both teams continued to go back and forth in the start of the quarter. Russell Wilkey set up the Blue Jays second scoring drive with a big 44-yard run which was capped off by a rushing touchdown by Rooster Adams. The Blue Jays failed to score again in the quarter and more importantly in-game.

Manhattan started to run away with the game as time progressed and the Blue Jays never gained the momentum back. The past eight silver trophy games have been decided by nine points or fewer, which is why the blowout was such a shock to the community of Junction City.

The Blue Jays look to regain their mojo and get back to winning ways as the playoffs loom in and as the regular season comes to an end. The Blue Jays will be taking on the Olathe West Owls on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Al Simpler Stadium.
