The Junction City Blue Jays Baseball team has started the season off hot, winning their first 8 games as well as suffering their first couple losses recently.

The Blue Jays won their home opener against the Emporia Spartans, winning game one of the doubleheaders with a score of 5-0 and game two with a score of 7-2, completing the first sweep of the season.

The Blue Jays continued their winning streak against the Garden City Buffalos, winning game one with courtesy of a run-rule by a score of 11-1 in six innings and game two with a score 13-4.

The Blue Jays handled their first test being away from home as they traveled to Topeka to play the Hayden Wildcats. The Jays won game one with a score of 9-2 and game two with a score of 7-4, making that three consecutive sweeps for the team bringing lots of positive energy and confidence.

The Blue Jays returned home to face the Topeka High Spartans, winning game one with a score of 6-2 and game two in six innings courtesies to another run-ruling with a score of 11-1.

With the winning streak at 8 games, the Blue Jays were ready to take the road again to face the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds. The Blue Jays lost game one 5-6 in extra innings and game two with a score of 9-1, snapping their 8-game winning streak.

The Blue Jays traveled to Topeka to face the Topeka West Chargers, this being the second time the Blue Jays were away from home. The Blue Jays lost game one with a score of 2-5 and winning game two 12-1, winning in the 5thinning courtesy of the run rule.

The Blue Jays returned home to face the Seamen Vikings, who are currently the number one team in the 5A class. The Blue Jays won game won with a score of 2-1 courtesy of Thane McDaniel pitching 6 2/3 innings, almost getting his fourth complete game of the season. The Blue Jays lost game two with a score of 11-3, splitting the series with the Seamen Vikings 1-1.

The Blue Jays are currently 10-4 and are ranked ninth in the 6A class. The Blue Jays next game will be at Washburn Rural to face the Washburn Rural Ichabobs, game one will begin at 3:00 p.m.
