Senior Farewell: Jose Baquero

Jose Baquero, Sports reporter

I arrived at JCHS not knowing a soul. However, I eventually joined some clubs and played baseball and football here, so in no time I had some friends.

Junction City is a small and boring town at first glace. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the movies or bowling with friends because that is all there is to do here. However, I was once told that the situation you’re in is only as good as you make it. Once I started applying this to my everyday life, life in Junction City and at Junction City High School became much easier and much more fun.

Soon I had something new and different to do every other weekend. There were gems of good times and different things to do hidden in the depths of this barren town.

In terms of Junction City High School, it can use some work of course but what school can’t? It is in no means a perfect school, but the staff is what makes this place special. They truly care about their students and are willing to work with struggling students to ensure their success. I also have never thought teachers could become some what of friends to me before this school. Certain teachers certainly go way above and beyond what is simply just required of them. They can laugh with you and joke with you and remind you that there is genuine people on this planet and in this town.

I will walk out of JCHS with a true sense of what I want out of life and what kind of people I want by my side. I am truly grateful for the opportunities that were presented to me during my time at Junction City High School. For those underclassmen reading this, don’t think about all the things that are wrong with Junction City, but take a moment to appreciate what we do have and enjoy it.
