Culture Review

I’m Auh’Shay Sanchez and I have a huge amount of love for music and have ear for all genres. First album I’ll be doing is Atlanta’s finest trio “Migos” and here heavily commercialized and very hyped album Culture. First to start off “Migos” is an American hip hop group formed in 2009, from Lawrenceville, Georgia AKA Nawfside. The group is made of three rappers, known as Quavo, Takeoff and Offset relatives as well.  The album was titled “Culture” due to the fact Migos felt they have created and helped the new generation of rap. I’ll go through track by track of the album give my opinion and put a rating at the end of the page.

Track list:

Culture (feat. DJ Khaled)- I love this track and most people don’t because the past tense strongly throughout song saying “Culture album coming soon”. To start the album off with somebody as iconic influential as D.J Khaled on the social platform and the word play and going back and forth between all of them. The beat is amazing produced by yours truly 808 Mafia showing Migos staying to true to the Atlanta based – producers.

T-Shirt– This song catches the ear effortlessly. It’s not your typical Migos beat from the very electrifying Takeoff to start off and Quavo harmonizing and heavily auto-tune verses switching to a very lyrical Offset going to a very melodic Quavo hook which is quite catchy. By far one of the best Migos songs ever.

Call Casting– Call casting is just another song that shows Migos as a duel – threat. Tells you they (Migos) can switch up on you at any time, this have a nice hook laid by takeoff and every verse starts off in a unique way most unique is quavo’s.

Bad and Boujee (feat. Lil Uzi Vert)– Probably why this album is #1 in the country and had so much hype behind it is because this song, migos teamed up with Metro Boomin and Lil Uzi Vert two artist who are taking the new generation of rap by storm.  Right now on one of biggest song in the world right now with meme’s and people simply texting other friends or family member’s words or the hook saying “Rain Drop” with them having to reply “Drop Top”. This song is easily top 3 on this album in my opinion. The song speaks for itself.

Get Right Witcha-This song appeals to the ear because how smooth the beat is and how great the Canadian and longtime producer for the Migos Murda Beatz did on this it shows the versatility of the artists and them being able to adapt to anything.

Slippery (feat. Gucci Mane)- This song features a very important and big appearance in the Atlanta culture Gucci Mane who is believe to be the King or God trap music and has recently just got out of jail and dropped 3 Albums in the span of 4 months. This song is good song in my opinion but not there best.

Big On Big- This is heavily trap and old Migos like 2009 migos inspired, so I see why the put it on the album although it might not be my favorite I respect the decisions to take it back to the origin for the one time.

What the Price- This is top 2 in song on the album for me this just surprised me and migos set way out their boundaries and comfort zone letting quavo take more of the song putting a heavily influenced Travis Scott and Kid Cudi feel to the song adding an electric guitar and smooth beat. I love this song from beginning to end.

Brown Paper Bag-This is like big on big in many ways but unlike big on big I like brown paper bag, with the nice off set hook and verse by everyone in the group this song takes you’re to the “Nawfside”.

Deadz (feat. 2 Chainz)-Amazing song although it’s very repetitive in the beginning I think it’s is executed well and 2 chainz verse compliments the track well.

All ***– Between this song and Kelly Price Migos did a great job placing to absolute bangers side by side cause this song is just catchy and brings joy to aux cords and cars all around the U.S.  Great job to Purps the producer he did a great job if catchy was the theme for this song.

Kelly Price (feat. Travis Scott)- This is by far my favorite song we the people have been waiting for a Quavo and Travis Scott collaboration who I believe to be the best artist in the industry of music, takeoff verse if okay because it is a “Migos” album and he was left out bad and boujee but preferably I would’ve left takeoff off this track and let Travis and Quavo go back and forth on the track. but either way it’s still a great song and catchy.

Out Yo Way- This outro is another step out the Migos flow so thru out the album you see migos rap, sing on various beats and this is a R&B speaking to the lady migos fan who go out their way to make their man happy, great song and great way to end a great album.

This Sophomore Lp shows migos versality and that they are a dual threat. I truly believe this might be one of their best project ever and fact better than there first ever album.

Rating 9.3 /10

Next I’ll be doing a Review over Big Sean’s I Decided. Released last Friday 2/3/17.
